Tina Simpson - Violin
Tina has maintained an active Suzuki violin studio since first joining the faculty of LTEA in 1983. Born in Massachusetts and raised in Wilmette, Illinois, Tina began piano lessons at the age of five. After being exposed to several instruments throughout childhood, she settled on the viola as her primary instrument in high school. She holds a bachelor of music degree from the College-Conservatory of Music at the University of Cincinnati.
Tina has been a member of the Chicago Civic Orchestra, the Congress of Strings in Seattle, WA, and the Orquesta Mexicana de la Juventud in Mexico City. She has played with the West Virginia Symphony (Charleston) and currently performs with the Huntington, West Virginia Symphony. She has been a member of the violin section of the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra since 1983 and is an active freelance musician in the Lexington area. She and her husband, Mark, have two children, Ted and Emma.
